Reserve Bank of India,100 Rupees, Karachi, ND (1937), serial number A/46 496128, the Reserve Bank of India Act of 1934 authorised the issuance of notes in a number of denominations. These Reserve Bank of India notes were produced from 1938 to 1949, with the 1,000 and 10,000 denominations being demonetised in 1946. This 100 Rupee Reserve Bank of India note is green, orange, and violet, with traditional Indian floral motifs. It features the classic British colonial iconography of King George VI wearing the Imperial Crown of India, shown here facing left. His visage is balanced by a watermark on the opposite side which is a mirrored version of his profile. The reverse features a roaring Bengal tiger in the middle, flanked by the King George watermark and a panel of eight languages, highlighting the cultural diversity of the Indian subcontinent. The reverse also includes the Reserve Bank of India’s seal of a tiger and a palm tree. This particular note lists Karachi as the city of issue and includes the signature of J.B.
