Reserve Bank of India,1000 Rupees, Bombay, ND (1937), serial number A/7 103964, there are fantastic rich colours of purple, green and orange on both faces of the banknote. The front face depicts a left-facing portrait of King George VI, wearing the Imperial Crown of India. The back face boasts a striking scene of snow-topped mountains, fir trees, with a panel of languages and the Reserve Bank's seal of a tiger and palm tree respectively on the left and right of the background. An interesting period of Indian history is captured in this note: the imperial rule of the British monarch is dominant through the portrait and the English text on the front face; however the back face is far removed from British imagery.
