Description

INDIA. Reserve Bank of India. 10 Rupees, ND (1959). P-R5. Jhun&Rez 6.13.1.1. Persian Gulf Note. PMG Very Fine 30 Net. Pinholes, Rust, Tear. While this example has some minor problems mentioned by the grading service, none are severe enough to take away from the fresh color and appearance of this difficult Gulf Rupee. The 10 Rupees is one of the more challenging denominations of this heavily collected and popular series of notes that utilized similar designs as contemporary pieces meant for domestic use in India but with different prefixes and different colors, along with other minor differences in the design. These notes were only issued to Haj Pilgrims in May of 1959 and were only payable at the Bombay office of the Reserve Bank of India. PMG Comments "Pinholes, Rust, Tear."Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000.
