Description

INDIA. Government of India. 5 Rupees, 9.3.1922. P-A6h. Jhun&Rez 2A.1.6.2. PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58.A.C. McWatters signature. An exceptional example, tied for finest in the PMG population report of one of the last varieties of this uniface type. Seen here with exceptional eye appeal for the assigned grade, and tied for finest in the PMG population report. This was the initial denomination of this series, and while lower denominations were later issued to supplement the coinage in circulation at the time, these saw heavy use in the domestic economy of India at the time. Not surprisingly, high grade examples are scarce and much in demand. PMG Comments "Spindle Hole at Issue."Estimate: $2,500 - $3,000.
