INDIA. Reserve Bank of India. 5 Rupees, ND (1943). P-23b.(4.4.2) C.D. Deshmukh signed. Red serial numbers. Prefix D. A simply outstanding note in terms of both quality and scarcity. This red numbered note is significantly more scarce than the black overprinted variety. This note here shows with vibrant inks throughout along with original paper. Picture perfect centering of the design helps confirm the lofty Gem grade. Typical staple holes at issue are observed at left. The last we sold was a raw example cataloged as Uncirculated which brought $1,265.00 as lot 5470 in our 2010 NYINC sale. One of two nearly consecutive pieces we are offering.
