British India , 1938, King George VI, 1000 Rupees (2), Consecutive Pair, Bombay Circle, Signed by J.B. Taylor , A Prefix, S. No, A3 274054 & 274055, (KJ & RR # 4.8.1A), staple holes at issue, spindle holes, ink stamps, annotation, graded by PMG as 35 Choice Very Fine, Exceedingly Rare. Note: This large banknote pair is extremely sought after due to its graceful design and high face value. Fresh crisp paper and good coloring are noted on this specimen. From the enormous face value of this high denomination, it is evident that the owner of these 2 running/consecutive serial banknotes must have been abundantly wealthy, which could be the reason why these were not redeemed in those days. These were issued from the Bombay circle which is rarer than its counterpart in Calcutta. There are few stamps at the reverse on both of these notes but they do not detract from its overall magnificent quality. Staple holes and spindle holes are noted on both of them.
