Description

Republic India, 1997, 50 Rupees, Signed by C. Rangarajan, AA Prefix, S. No. 0AA 111111, (KJ & RR # 6.6.3.1A), staple holes at issue, graded by PMCS as 64 UNC, Extremely Rare. Note: It was with this issue that Mahatma Gandhi’s vignette was introduced to Indian notaphily, replacing with Ashok Emblem. It was released in 1997 and signed by the then Governor C. Rangarajan. This is the first banknote with solid fancy numbers, bearing the first prefix 0AA and 111111. The repeating eight ‘1’s are an interesting observation. It is of the highest rarity in fancy or solid numbers.
