In the late 1950s, The Reserve Bank of India made the decision to print 10 and 100 Rupees banknotes specifically for Muslims making the pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. These blue and red notes were not legal tender in India, and were intended to enforce exchange control. On issued notes, the prefix "HA" is the only one used for both the 10 and 100 Rupees. This handsome Specimen was created for the 10 Rupees, and features all design elements of the fully issued note, as well as a red Specimen overprint.
