A beautiful, high denomination note, this type features a portrait of King George V. Madras issued examples are scarce. Some splits, spindle holes and notations are seen. Although the Standard Catalog dates this type from 1917-30, it was not actually issued until 1927. Such notes circulated well into the late 1930s, at which time they were replaced by a new issue.
