Description

Description India Reserve Bank of India 100 Rupees Calcutta ND (1943) Pick 20f Jhunjhunwalla-Razack 4.7.2B PMG Very Fine 30. An interesting and scarce variety in this lengthy series. As a result of the Japanese attempt to counterfeit this denomination during WWII, the India Security Press altered the watermark, from a profile to a front-facing portrait. Only a limited quantity were printed with the new, front facing King George VI watermark. Desirable and rare in any grade. PMG notes the usual staple holes that were present at the time of issue.
