Description

Burma, George V, Quarter note of 100 rupees, ND (1937), signed by J.W. Kelly, serial no.: T32 847555, Legal Tender in Burma Only in black overprint in centre (not visible) on obverse and below on reverse, Type J&R 5.3.1A. Thread hole, Very fine, Very rare. Brief History: As the Black overprinted notes of 100 rupees Burma were not clearly legible, they were exchanged by cutting the lower left hand quarter and retained for accounting purpose. The date on which it was exchanged was recorded with a seal on the reverse quarter note. In this case the date of exchange was 16-Sep-1937. This quarter note was never used as emergency money or as 25 rupees. The remaining 3/4th note was destroyed, hence never observed.
