Description

Bank of Madras, Rupees 10, hand written date 1 May 184_, Serial number 13467 placed on top right and left corners. Bank of Madras written in semi-circle above vignette of Equestrian statue of Sir Thomas Munroe, Governor of Madras. Denominations in numerals on four corners Arabic, English, Tamil and Telugu. Bank of Madras and denomination on reverse (J&R 1C.3.1.1). Two “CANCELLED” stamps. These notes were known to exist only as Specimen Proofs on card. A handful of issued notes have recently turned up. Very Fine+, Uncut hence Extremely Rare. One of the finest specimen in the denomination to have appeared.
