Indo-Portuguese, Cinco / 5 Rupias, 4th issue, 1929, Banco Nacional Ultramarino, black overprint ’Decreto No. 17154’ in bold letters, with prefix ’A’ and a third short signature just above the steam ship in bottom left panel (J&R 12.22.1). Holes in centre and a tear at the top, Fine+, Extremely Rare. Banknotes dated 1st January 1924 were issued in 1929 by adding the prefix ’A’ and overprinted in black ’Decreto No. 17154’. An additional third abbreviated signature is seen in lower serial number panel (next to the steam ship). The usual notes with the red Decreto no. in red do not have the short signature. A similar note in About Extremely Fine condition in Auction 116 Lot No. 314 sold for Rs. 2,95,000.
