Description
Bank of Bengal, Rupees 10, Type 10, Calcutta, dated 31st August 1857. Serial number placed on top right and left corners in English and in Bengali on the reverse. Denomination written in Bengali, Persian and Devanagari scripts on the reverse. (J&R 3.10.1). Then newly designed note depicting ’Britannia’ accompanied by personified Commerce, Trade and Agriculture. Constituent Provinces of the Bengal Presidency identified by a Rhinoceros (for Assam), boat on river Hooghly (for Bengal), tomb of Sher Shah Suri (for Bihar) and Elephant (for the remaining provinces). Very Fine. Uncut from center as otherwise seen on most notes of this type, hence Very Rare.
