An exceptionally rare note, with none to compare it to that we have ever offered. For starters, the type itself, the 1000 Rupees notes for this series are among the most treasured in the catalog for India. When they do become available, they are often plagued by extreme circulation and repairs. Not many examples are known with any of the catalogued place names, with a total of only 17 certified examples across the place name varieties on the PMG census. This note however, is different than all of them. This note, carries the same design, but with a place name of Madras, which is unlisted in the Krause catalog. A J.W. Kelly signature found at bottom right. The note has just a touch of circulation, seen in an AU holder. PCGS Gold Shield Detail comments of only Perforated, which is certainly standard for issued India notes. A striking portrait of King George V in sprays found at right, with a watermark of him at left. A primarily violet and green color found on both sides. The reverse shows a farmer plowing with oxen at center.
